Step 1
Unpack gate, and unwrap hinges from gate.
NOTE: rivets face inside
Step 2
Place hinges 1/2" below and above the
2 slots at either end of the gate.
Ensure that the barrel of the hinge is on the rivet
side of the gate; use flat head screws. |
 |
Step 3
Install the caster at the bottom of the gate
on the leading channel, watching which
end you put it on, as it will determine the
rivet side, as well as left or right orientation. |
 |
Step 4
Pick up the gate and stand it up against the frame it is to be mounted to.
Mark where the underside of the hinge meets
the mounting frame & open the hinge and screw into place 3/8" above this mark.
Put in one screw in each hinge; test gate rolling action; the gate should be plumb at the receiving frame. |
 |
Step 5
Mount the steel slam lock shroud (with the brass lock body in it) over the center rivet. Position it as far forward as possible, and straight in line with gate; use round head screws. |
 |
Step 6
Snap the receiver plate onto the lock and pull the gate across to receiving frame. Mark the receiver position on the frame; unlock and mount the plate with one screw. Test to ensure that it locks and unlocks smoothly, and then add the other screws. |
 |
Step 7
Mount the U bracket towards the top of the gate on the receiver frame. The gate should fit into the U bracket and lock receiver with ease.
Double check that all screws are in hinges receiver etc.
